This is the amount of alcohol you should drink daily to be always healthy

There are already campaigns to warn of the risks of alcohol in excess (like any food or substance), however, science has found that consumption of one to three drinks a day prolongs life expectancy.


A study led by psychologist Charles Holahan of the University of Texas at Austin shows that those who are habitual drinkers (more unreliable) are less likely to die prematurely compared to people who have never allowed alcohol.

Contrary to popular belief, research contends that abstaining altogether from alcohol can lead to a shorter life. The study - strictly controlled - analyzed 1,824 individuals between 55 and 65 years of age over a period of 20 years, also presenting other variables that usually influence safety and health (socioeconomic status, level of physical activity, etc.).

Holahan discovered that death rates were higher for those who had never taken a sip of alcohol, "moderate" for those who drank too much and too low for those who enjoyed their 2 or 3 glasses of wine a day.

The figures were clear: only 41% of moderate drinkers died prematurely, contrasting with 69% of abstainers who died during the period of the investigation. For their part, subjects who drank in large quantities had a mortality rate of 60%, which makes sense taking into account that they were more prone to cancer, cirrhosis and numerous road accidents due to their addiction.

It's amazing how even the subjects who drank in excess had a lower percentage of mortality compared to the abstainers, do not you think? The explanation for this according to Holahlan is that alcohol has proven to be a good "social" catalyst. Going out on a spree from time to time helps us to release stress and keep our emotional ties close.

Of course the good living will collapse if you vomit in your friend's car or if you start to be foolish, so the big key is moderation. Remember: according to this study a maximum of three drinks a day is more than enough Do not abuse!
