Beta-carotene: good for the skin?

Beta carotene is a plant pigment, which is part of a group of red, yellow and orange pigments called carotenoids. It is found in fruits, cereals, vegetables and oils. It acts as an antioxidant that helps the body to produce vitamin A, essential for the good health of our skin.


What are its benefits?

  • They help prevent sunburn in people with sensitive skin due to some disease.
  • It could reduce the signs of premature aging of the skin.
  • It helps in the treatment of dry skin, psoriasis and eczema.
  • Participates in the repair of damaged skin tissue from cuts and wounds. In addition, it can be applied externally to treat ulcers, boils and remove spots that appear with age.
  • It favors the healthy appearance of our skin, by reducing the damage caused by UV rays, pollution and smoking.

What food is it in?
  • Mainly in those vegetables and vegetables with orange, reddish or yellow coloration.
  • Some of these foods are carrots, red peppers, squash, tomatoes, plums, watermelon, oranges, tangerines, papayas and melons.
